I am a German filmmaker and photographer with a background in geography, specializing in environmental conflict. My work includes the long-term photo story ‘Not The Amazon’, on primary forest research in Europe, and the feature-length documentary ‘Blood Wood’, which explores the conflict over Romania’s endangered wild forests, which premiered at the UN Environment Program in 2024. Currently a Director’s Fellow at the International Center of Photography, I’m working on a conservation story in Jamaica Bay to reimagine the consequences of the development of the Bay into a deep sea port, as the city planned it in the 1920s. I want to highlight how development and natural spaces can go hand in hand.
