Several lifting bridges, like the Danviksbron, enable sailboats to enter the channels of Stockholm.
Alba entered the Stockholm harbour rolling, like in a storm. The heavy traffic of ships and ferries threw our small sailboat from one side to the other. Fortunately, the Guesthamn of Stockholm is well protected and close to the city centre so we could enjoy four days of city life in calm water. Despite the convenience of the city harbour, we missed the freedom of sailing, so we continued our travels through the locks and into Lake Mälaren. The locks lifted Alba 60 cm higher onto the level of the lake, and after two hours of Chanel motoring, we were in more open waters and out of the city again. The channels offered another interesting perspective on Stockholm.
